I get asked by people all of the time where I got my German Shepherd. She does have the loveliest markings and an impressive pedigree and conformation.
Most impressive of all, I think, is her laid-back personality. She still exhibits the strong, protective, powerhouse qualities of all GSDs, but she is also very patient and easy-going [...]

I always like to check in on what type of searches and which referral sites brings people to this blog. Yesterday there was a Twitter referral to The Waggery’s Good Dog Blog. I’m not even on Twitter. Hmm . . . interesting.

Well, except for the $450.00 fine given to the dogs’ owners, this one can definitely be classified as a feel good story.

Last September Kaylee was malnourished, extremely timid of everyone and everything, she didn’t know how to play — not with us, not with toys, nor with other dogs.
There was just [...]

Puppy mills, and the horror and suffering they inflict on the innocent, are just as prevalent across Canada. Quebec is considered to be the worst offender, but does not stand alone in this shameful practice.
Awareness is the first step in making a difference.

Beanz – ADOPTED!
Who could resist that face?!
Beanz is a mixed breed of uncertain origin available for adoption through Hopeful Hearts Rescue in Ottawa, Ontario
So what is Beanz anyway? :) Petfinder says Wheaten/Poodle mix while Hopeful Hearts says he looks exactly like a Golden Doodle. Both could be right, though I don’t find his face to [...]

If you haven’t signed up for John Wade’s very informative newsletter about dog issues, behavior and training, you can do so at http://www.johnwade.ca/
My mom turned me on to John’s work back at the beginning of the summer (thanks Mom!) and I was immediately drawn to his simple, no nonsense way of dealing with dogs. And [...]
