The Waggery is a family business that came about as a result of our love of dogs, and the driving desire to give ours only the best of everything.
Pampered Paws Dog Treats: Good nutrition is the cornerstone of a happy, healthy dog, yet commercial pet foods contain very little in the way of nutrient-rich ingredients. I began researching the benefits of homemade dog food and after only a few weeks of preparing my own, the results were stunning!
My dogs are active as never before, tummy troubles are a thing of the past, and their soft, shiny coats shed very little. Truly, they are the picture of health and vitality! The most amazing transformation, however, has been with our poodle, who suffered from unexplained seizures for three years, but has been seizure-free for over a year! Ever since I started feeding him natural food.
Once my dogs were off commercial kibble and canned food, the next step was homemade biscuits. Well, the dogs went crazy for them — not only mine but those of friends and family also. Deciding to open a business in which I could share these delicious, healthy dog treats was as natural a process as the ingredients that go into them.
The Waggery’s Good Dog Blog is a cornucopia of dog-related things. A lot of what you’ll find in here will be about my dogs, dog rescue and related issues, but I am also a freelance writer, so occasionally I’ll post one of my articles.
Basically, if it has to do with dogs, it’ll probably find its way into The Good Dog Blog.
Hi,
We publish books that raise awareness of and funding for dog rescue organizations. I like your blog and thought there might be some co-marketing opportunities. If you wanted to do a write up on our books we would be happy to offer you a spot in one of our newsletters. Please check out http://happytailsbooks.com and let me know if you’d like to chat!
Kind regards,
kyla
Kyla,
Hello and thanks so much for stopping by!
I had a great time reviewing your site. I’m always eager to be a part of promoting dog rescue awareness, and love the idea of stories that tell of all of the many happy tails.
Definitely we should chat :)

Hi,
My name is Trevor, and I’m writing to let you know about Home 4 the Holidays, an Iams initiative with the goal of finding homes for pets currently living in overcrowded animal shelters. We would love to have your help in spreading the word!
Iams has already partnered with 3,500 shelters and since the campaign began in 1999, it has helped more than 4.6 million orphaned animals find loving homes. This year, we are working to find loving “forever” homes for 1.5 million dogs and cats throughout the holiday season.
Please let me know if you’d be interested in participating or if you’d like more information.
I appreciate your time and consideration!
Thanks!
Trevor
I have a three year old cockapoo named Ginger.
She was a rescue dog I adopted a year and a half
ago from our local shelter. Unfortunately, she
doesn’t fit in with my other companion animals.
She needs to be the only pet in the house and
belong to, perhaps, a woman of mature age.
Under those conditions, she would be an excellent
companion.
Could you kindly tell me where I could post this
information. I do not want to surrender her to the
shelter and go through that experience again.
I live in Stratford, Ontario.
Hello Martha,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having to re-home Ginger. My advice to you, if you are reluctant to go to your local animal shelter, is to look into a private dog rescue organization in your area. These are usually run by volunteers; the dogs are fostered in private homes until the right home can be found for them. These rescue organizations have very rigorous adopting policies that include thorough screening and home inspections. Ginger’s history and your surmise of what the best conditions would be for her new home are all taken into serious consideration when looking for her potential new family.
The other thing you could do, which would give you the control over where she goes, is to advertise yourself. Put up local fliers, an advertisement in your local newspaper, or post an ad on kijiji.
Hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
