Temperance
German Shepherd Dog
D.O.B. August 16, 2003
Temperance came to us last Christmas and quickly became the best gift I have ever received.
Once a show dog and breeding mom, her previous owners made the decision to retire and re-home her — something I cannot thank them enough for.
My mother saw an ad for “Radisson’s Savannah” (her CKC name) on Kijiji, alerted me, and I fell in love with her on the spot. My husband and I went to meet her on December 23, 2007, and were fortunate enough to bring her home with us that same day.
Now when bringing a new dog into your family there is always an adjustment period, and we were fully prepared for that. What we weren’t prepared for was this perfect dog settling in the minute she walked through our front door, and never giving us a moment of trouble or concern. It was uncanny! And in my eyes, proof positive that this angel was meant to be ours.
We’ve now had Tempe (pronounced Tem-pee) for nine months and I’m more in love with her than ever. She was my first experience with this marvelous breed and has surpassed all of my hopes and expectations. Because of my beautiful, exceptional girl I will be a GSD owner for life!
Toby
Toy Poodle (with, I believe, some Bichon Frisé mixed in)
D.O.B. July 24, 2001
Toby was an impulse buy, I’m ashamed to admit. Like Tempe, however, I know this little guy was meant to be ours. Which would explain why I would go against my fervent belief that pet stores should not be allowed to sell live pets and why can’t people just smarten up already and stop buying from them?!! — and purchase a pet shop pooch that no doubt came from a puppy mill. *sigh*
Toby has not been without some health problems over the years (further proof of his questionable start in life), but his funny, entertaining personality and unwavering loyalty are always what come shining through for me. He’s my little man who loves to go for walks, get dirty, and shred his stuffed toys into unrecognizable blobs of white fuzz all over my carpets. I don’t know what I’d do without him :)
Dresden
Miniature Dachshund
D.O.B. September 22, 2007
Dresden belongs to my daughter and, yes, that is mischief you can see twinkling in her eyes. :)
When we first brought this little girl home at 10 weeks of age, my vet claimed we were in for hours of amusement. She was right. Dresden is “amusing” from morning until night. Not always in a good way, mind you, but even then you can’t help but laugh at this charming little rascal. And I do mean CHARMING. She just has a way about her, and when she cuddles into you and offers up lots and lots of kisses, all is always forgiven.
Like our other two, Dresden is an angel in our eyes. Her halo just sometimes sits at a bit of an angle. But we wouldn’t have it any other way!
